Why I Bother with YouTube and Blogging: A Fight Against Misinformation.
Let’s face it - being in the public eye, even on a relatively modest scale, comes with its own set of challenges. For many, YouTube and blogging are creative outlets or platforms to build communities around shared passions. For me, they serve a dual purpose: they are both a creative endeavour and a battleground for truth. You might wonder, why does Matt Taylor bother with YouTube and writing numerous blogs? The answer is simple but vital - to counteract the constant stream of lies and misinformation being published about me on a daily basis.
The Nature of the Beast: Misinformation in the Digital Age.
In today’s internet-driven world, rumours, lies, and half-truths spread like wildfire. It only takes a single post or video to distort reality and create narratives that are entirely untrue. Once these narratives take root, they can be difficult, if not impossible, to shake off. I've experienced this first hand - having my name dragged through the mud, my actions twisted, and my character misrepresented.
YouTube and blogs have given me the tools to directly confront these falsehoods. I’m not just passively sitting back while my name gets trashed - I’m actively fighting back with facts, humour, and a bit of sarcasm when needed. These platforms allow me to set the record straight in real-time, providing an authentic, unfiltered version of my life, work, and intentions.
Building My Own Narrative.
One of the main reasons I turned to YouTube and blogging is to control my own narrative. When false information circulates about you, you can either let it define you or take matters into your own hands. I chose the latter. Every blog post I write, every video I upload on MattTaylorTV!, is a deliberate act of reclaiming my story.
It’s not about simply responding to every lie - there’s too much to keep up with - but rather creating a space where people can see who I really am. Through my content, my audience can witness my life and motivations firsthand, cutting through the smoke and mirrors created by those who’d rather see me fail.
Exposing the Source of Lies.
A major part of this effort is shining a light on those who continually spread falsehoods about me. Misinformation often thrives in darkness, where its creators can operate without scrutiny. By addressing these people and their lies head-on, I not only defend myself but expose their intentions for all to see.
Over the years, individuals like Shellie Mote and others have attempted to tarnish my reputation, but their accusations crumble when exposed to the truth. My blogs and YouTube channel have become a sort of archive, where I document and dismantle these false narratives piece by piece, ensuring that anyone searching for the truth can easily find it.
The Power of My Audience.
Of course, none of this would be possible without my audience. The viewers, readers, and supporters who engage with my content give me the motivation to keep pushing back. I’ve always believed in the phrase, “You sway what I say,” because my interactions with you shape the direction of my content. Together, we’re building a community that values truth, transparency, and fairness - a community that doesn’t back down in the face of misinformation.
What’s more, by sharing my experiences and debunking the lies spread about me, I hope to empower others facing similar battles. We live in an era where nearly anyone can fall victim to online smear campaigns, but I’m proof that you can fight back and reclaim your narrative. My channel and blogs are a testament to that.
Why I Won’t Stop.
Some might wonder why I don’t just ignore the haters, let the lies roll off my back, and move on. The answer is simple: I refuse to let falsehoods define me. Each day that goes by without addressing the misinformation feels like a day where the liars win. That’s not a world I’m comfortable living in, and it’s not a future I’m willing to accept.
Every post, every video, is my way of standing up for myself, my family, and my integrity. I owe it to those who support me, and more importantly, I owe it to myself. If I don’t tell my story, someone else will - and they may not tell it truthfully. So, I will continue using YouTube and blogging as my sword and shield in this battle for truth.
And for those who wonder why I keep going? It’s because the truth matters. And if I don’t fight for it, who will?
