Is one of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the United Kingdom about to get an eye watering £21 Billion investment from the Saudi Kingdom?
Developed as a council estate in the 1920’ and 1930s, the now large suburb of Moulsecoomb is now home to the University of Brighton’s largest campus, is divided into three areas; North, East and South Moulsecoomb.
With a history of social deprivation and crime, Moulsecoomb is now ear-marked for a new state of the art, purpose built Film and TV studios, and a major new tourist attraction called Moulsecoomb Moon Base One, which simulates trips to the moon.
Built on the outskirts of Brighton, and using the Earthship Technology principles of Michael Reynolds, a new TV/Film studios and Moon Base tourist attraction, will form part of a bigger project including as its showcase feature, a King’s Crown shaped building built overlooking Brighton, at the entrance of a tunnel to the coast, a new pier to replace the now ruined West Pier, and a tunnel out to sea, to the UK’s first ever artificial island, floated miles of Brighton’s coast.
According to Parametric-Architecture.com, there are seven ongoing mega projects by the Saudi Arabia Kingdom, and Brighton’s 2222 Project, could be its eighth.
“Saudi Arabia is undergoing a series of megaprojects to make the country a dominant global economic force. Through massive investments as part of Saudi Arabia Vision 2030, the kingdom is expanding its economy beyond oil, creating jobs, and elevating its position as a key trade and tourism destination.”

Saudi Arabia is investing billions of dollars into its megaprojects as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 plan to diversify the economy and improve public service sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism. The exact amount of investment is not clear, but some of the projects have been estimated to cost billions of dollars each.
