“I understand how he must feel invincible and untouchable to have this long list of arrests which come to nothing.”

Claiming that someone who says they understand how it feels to feel invincible and untouchable after committing a crime must have committed a crime without arrest is a bold, but fair claim.

While it is possible that someone who has committed a crime without arrest may feel invincible and untouchable, it is not necessarily true that everyone who feels this way has committed a crime.

To be fair, there are many reasons why someone may feel invincible and untouchable, such as having a high level of confidence, being in a position of power, or having a sense of entitlement. These feelings can also be influenced by cognitive biases, such as the optimism bias, which makes us believe that nothing bad will ever happen to us.

The idea that someone who believes themselves to be their own god and that there is no higher authority than themselves would naturally feel invincible and untouchable in everything they do and say is a complex one. It is important to first understand what is meant by a "god complex." According to licensed clinical social worker De-Andrea Blaylock-Johnson, LCSW, a god complex essentially means someone is so fervently self-assured that they actually overestimate themselves, their abilities, and their entitlement.

This inflated sense of self is the biggest indicator of a god complex.

“King Charles III has my respect but I would never take his Oath of Allegiance: 1. I reject the existence of God; 2. there is no authority in my life above me - I am my own god in my life.”

If someone believes themselves to be their own god, it is likely that they have a god complex. This means that they overestimate their abilities and entitlement, leading them to feel invincible and untouchable. They may believe that they are above the law and that they can do whatever they want without consequences. This can be a dangerous mindset, as it can lead to radicalisation of vulnerable people, (adult, teenage and child.)

However, it is important to note that not everyone who feels invincible and untouchable has a god complex.

Feeling invincible and untouchable can be a risk factor for engaging in unethical behaviour and moral lapses. The psychology behind unethical behaviour suggests that feeling omnipotent and entitled can lead to a distorted perception of reality, where rules and norms are meant for everyone but oneself. This can create a sense of elation and energise someone to cross the line, feeling less like a transgression and more like a justified action. In this sense, feeling invincible and untouchable can be a warning sign of potential unethical behaviour and a lack of accountability.

It is important to recognize the risks associated with feeling invincible and untouchable and to cultivate a sense of humility, self-awareness, and responsibility. This can be achieved by owning one's flaws and weaknesses, recognizing that no one is above the rules, and seeking feedback and criticism from others. It is also important to understand the emotions and cognitive biases that influence our behaviour and decision-making, such as fear, paranoia, catastrophizing, and emotive judgement. By identifying and managing these emotions and biases, we can make more rational and ethical decisions.

Understanding how it must feel to be invincible and untouchable is a complex concept that can be approached from different angles. One possible explanation is related to the psychological phenomenon of omnipotence, which refers to the feeling of being hyper-capable, aggrandized, and entitled, to the point of believing that rules and norms do not apply to oneself. This sense of invincibility can be energising and elating, as it creates a perception of being above the fray and immune to consequences. However, it can also lead to moral lapses, unethical behaviour, and a lack of accountability, as the omnipotent person may feel justified in crossing lines that others would not dare to cross.

Another perspective on the concept of feeling invincible and untouchable is related to narcissism, which is characterised by a lack of empathy, a sense of entitlement, and a grandiose self-image. Narcissistic individuals may believe that they are special and deserving of special treatment, which can lead to a distorted perception of reality and a disregard for others' feelings and needs. In this sense, understanding how it must feel to be invincible and untouchable may involve recognizing the role of narcissism in shaping one's worldview and behaviour.

Overall, the concept of feeling invincible and untouchable is a complex and multifaceted one that can be approached from different angles. Whether it is related to the psychological phenomenon of omnipotence, the role of emotions in shaping our perceptions and behaviours, or the characteristics of narcissism, understanding this concept requires a nuanced and reflective approach that takes into account the individual, social, and cultural factors that contribute to it.

It is important to note that feeling invincible and untouchable can be a warning sign of potential unethical behaviour and a lack of accountability, as discussed above. It is also important to recognize the risks associated with feeling invincible and untouchable and to cultivate a sense of humility, self-awareness, and responsibility. By doing so, we can make more rational and ethical decisions and avoid the pitfalls of feeling omnipotent and entitled.
